Clinical Supervisor Pregnancy Counselor Director of Development

Clinical Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced candidate to provide leadership, supervision and support to our established team of professional clinicians. You will report to our Director of Programs and be a critical part of our agency’s Leadership Team. In this full-time position you will be a significant contributor to our efforts to achieve Amara’s vision of “A Home for Every Child.”

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Be the direct supervisor for all current clinical staff and hire/train new program staff
• Meet one-on-one with individual caseworkers on a regular basis
• Facilitate clinical staffing at weekly program meeting
• Set clinical professional growth goals for each staff member and evaluate on a quarterly basis
• Evaluate clinical training needs of caseworkers, prioritize needs, and with input from Director of Programs, help ensure that these are met in a reasonable time period
• Find, read and effectively share with staff and management the results of current client-based research in field of child welfare; this toward alignment of clinical staff with evidence-based, best-practice client assessment and service delivery
• Support caseworkers through participation in difficult client/staff interactions either at staff of management request or in response to your own assessment of its appropriateness
• Bring clinical perspective and evidence-based practice research to collaborative work with Director of Programs toward program planning and staff evaluation
• Review written home study documents
• Ensure coverage for program staff during scheduled and unexpected absences
• Participate in quality assurance activities as required by Director of Programs, including quarterly CQI meetings.
• Provide temporary caseload coverage and shepherd cases on an as-needed basis
•  Be responsible for the first contact with families that have indicated interest in working with Amara
• Be part of the Amara Leadership Team.  Participate in weekly meetings of this group and serve on board committees as requested

Required:

• Minimum 4 years of direct experience supervising social service caseworkers; non-profit experience a plus
• Understanding of family systems.
• Experience working with people of different ages, religions, races and cultures.
• Ability to provide supervision hours applicable to staff licensure in human service field     (LICSW strongly preferred)
• Safe and working vehicle, Washington State Driver’s license, and auto insurance.

Salary and Benefits:
$52,000 - $56,000, depending on experience. Generous personal leave and benefits package, including paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, and life and disability insurance.

Pregnancy and Parenting Counselor

Amara is currently seeking to hire one full-time counselor. Amara offers unbiased pregnancy options counseling to individuals who are experiencing some doubt as to their ability to parent.  Some of these birth parents choose to parent their children; others choose to make an open adoption plan.  In either case, our counselors will work with the birth parents until some permanency is established for their child and until they have supports in place to meet the challenges inherent in the decisions they have made.

Position Responsibilities: 
• Provide intake, counseling, information, referral, and support to women requesting help with an unplanned pregnancy.
• Perform asset mapping to determine family and community resources available to the client, involve family in planning for the child’s future.
• Coordinate and facilitate family support conferences as appropriate.
• In cases where birth parents choose to make an adoption plan, help match children with appropriate homes by communicating to adoption staff the potential impact of the child’s biological and prenatal history; assist client to explore choices in the selection of an adoptive family; prepare clients for and match meetings and communication agreement meetings with potential adoptive families; and support the birth family throughout the adjustment process, providing post-adoption support and referral services as appropriate.
• Work cooperatively with community resources such as medical, financial, educational, housing, mental health, and child welfare in providing services to Amara clients, making referrals as appropriate.
• Gain familiarity with Washington and Indian Child Welfare (ICWA) laws regarding relinquishment of children for adoption; seeking consultation with agency staff and agency attorney as needed.
• Participate in periodic staff meetings; in facilitation of trainings for potential adoptive families; and in other duties shared among clinical staff.
• Perform outreach activities to establish partnerships with other professionals, to educate about our services, and to identify potential clients
• Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, data collected, and that client files are up-to-date and complete.

Required:
• MSW or equivalent and 2+ years casework experience
• Understanding of family systems.
• Experience working with families of different ages, religions, races and cultures.
• Experience working with families or individuals in crisis
• Experience performing client intake assessments
• Commitment to carefully documenting case records, client and peripheral interactions, legal paperwork, and other service delivery information.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as required throughout the tenure of the position
• Safe and working vehicle, Washington State Driver’s license, and auto insurance.

Salary and Benefits:
$37,800 to $42,000, depending on experience.  Generous personal leave and benefits package, including paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, and life and disability insurance.

Director of Development

Help Amara create nurturing families and permanent homes for vulnerable children in our community by providing leadership, strategic planning, and direction for all development functions. This position reports to the Executive Director and will work to insure short and long-term funding of our mission, programs, activities and initiatives. You will lead the work of the organization’s staff, leadership team, volunteers,  and the Board of Directors to achieve the development goals for the agency — making a critical contribution to achieving Amara’s vision of “a home for every child.”

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Work with executive director, board, and campaign consultant to develop plan and implement $3 million capacity building campaign
• Oversee grant and corporate giving research and reporting
• Write all grant proposals
• Supervise Development Coordinator
• Direct and support the board and staff in soliciting major gifts.
• Oversee maintenance of donor database
• Oversee accurate recordkeeping and timely acknowledgement of donations and in-kind gifts
• Implement all development events including the annual luncheon, house parties, and cultivation events
• Serve on the agency Leadership Team
• Set and account for annual development goals and the strategy to reach them
• Coordinate the work of the Development Committee
• Oversee the personal growth and professional progress of the Development department
• Develop and implement an ongoing donor communication and solicitation calendar

Required Education & Experience:
• 4+ years experience working in development/fund-raising for a not-for-profit organization
• Experience planning and implementing large fundraising events
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles, campaign management and leadership 
• Strong team and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance

Minimum Prerequisites:
• Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check
• Demonstrate skill in word processing, database management, Microsoft Word and Excel
• Possess valid Washington State driver’s license and valid automobile insurance
• Have access to a dependable personal vehicle
• Enjoy working as a member of a small team while developing effective working relationships with the board, staff, donors and volunteers.
• Must be culturally sensitive, have a strong work ethic, dedication to customer service, professionalism, resourcefulness, and creativity.
• Supervisory experience
• Experience working with volunteers, especially board and committee member
• Excellent written/oral communication skills
