Pregnancy Counseling
Amara's Choices program offers no-cost, non-judgmental, pregnancy options counseling to birthparents in crisis. Regardless of birthparents’ choices, our counselors offer referrals, counseling and support toward stability and healing.
Are you pregnant and don’t know what to do?
This can be a confusing and fearful time, and you may be asking yourself a lot of tough questions. If you need help sorting things out or if you just want someone to listen, Amara can help. We believe that you are the person who can make the best decision about the choices you have, and that you don’t have to do it alone.
Amara’s caring and experienced counselors will help you look at all of your options and help you find the resources to support whatever decisions you make. Should you choose to terminate your pregnancy, your counselor will refer you to an appropriate clinic and support you through and after the termination. If you decide to parent your child, your counselor will support you and assist you with locating resources for parenting. If you choose adoption, you will have the opportunity to select the adoptive family and the degree of openness and contact you prefer.
About Amara’s Services
Amara’s pregnancy and parenting services are free and confidential. A counselor will schedule appointments at your convenience, and can meet with you at a clinic, Amara’s office, at your home, or another location of your choice.
During an initial meeting, you will be given materials for you to consider before exploring which options make the most sense for you. If you wish, partners, friends, and/or family members are welcome to accompany you. Our office is located in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood, but our counselors can be available to travel throughout western Washington.
How Amara Can Help
Our non-judgmental counselors can help you determine what kind of support you need to get you safely through this period in your life. Amara understands that this can be an emotional and difficult time as well as financially stressful, and we want to support you in the best way possible. This can include counseling referrals and possible aid for rent, groceries, personal items, and maternity clothing. We want you to take the time to make the right decision, and we want you to feel safe and comfortable while doing so. If you are under 18 or wish legal counsel, we will see that you speak with an attorney. If you can’t decide until the baby is born, we will work with you on plans for parenting and adoption.
If you have any questions or you would like to speak confidentially with an Amara pregnancy and parenting counselor, e-mail choices@amaraparenting.org or call 206-260-1700.
