Adoption Information Meeting (Amara, from Sep 09, 2008 06:00 PM to Sep 09, 2008 08:00 PM)

Tuesday, September 9, 2008, 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This orientation meeting combines a detailed staff presentation on Amara’s adoption process and timeline, with an informal presentation by a past adoptive family on their personal adoption experience. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions throughout the presentations, so we hope you’ll arrive ready to get the most out of this meeting by using your questions to help us to fully inform you. Most of you will have received our information packet in the mail prior to your arrival; please review this prior to attending. Sessions do fill quickly, so please contact us soon to reserve your place. If you are interested in attending Adoption Information Meeting at Amara but are completely unable to attend a Tuesday evening session, please contact Carol Mikkelsen at (206) 260-1720. We are happy to schedule an occasional Saturday session from 10:00am - 12:00pm to accommodate family needs, but are unfortunately unable to provide family speakers at those times.

Foster Care Information Meeting (Amara, from Sep 10, 2008 06:00 PM to Sep 10, 2008 08:00 PM)

Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This orientation provides an opportunity to learn more about Amara's foster care program. Amara's social workers facilitate each event and are happy to answer questions and discuss foster parenting. Prior to attending a meeting, we ask that you review our information packet. Thursday, September 18, 2008, 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Support group for all Amara families. Amara will provide childcare.

Focusing on the Needs of the Child: Openness in Foster Care and Adoption (Amara, from Oct 28, 2008 06:00 PM to Oct 28, 2008 09:00 PM)

Thursday, October 28, 2008, 6:00pm - 9:00 pm. This free training is required of families adopting a child through Amara.

Trans-racial Adoption Training (Amara, from Nov 04, 2008 06:00 PM to Nov 04, 2008 08:30 PM)

Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Discussion and training regarding adopting children of different ethnic backgrounds. Includes an interactive panel of adult adoptees.
